The Cergy-Pontoise Urban Area Community has always been an urban sports hub, with 53 dance clubs. With the Olympic discipline of breakdancing in mind, the area is currently upgrading its facilities by developing its Dance Training Centre, managed by the town of Cergy.
In 2021, Cergy-Pontoise, in partnership with the French Dance Federation, hosted the first French Breakdancing Cup, bringing together 56 elite-level dancers. In 2022, the area also welcomed four French team members who will be competing in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for the Génération(s) Festival, organised by the Scène nationale centre of Cergy-Pontoise and Val d'Oise. .
At the heart of the Maradas Joël-Motyl Complex, a 200 m² parquet-floored room fitted with mirrors on both sides will be reserved exclusively for breakdancers.
The sports complex, with its ancillary facilities, is fit for elite-level athletes.
The Cergy-Pontoise Urban Area Community has been selected as an official Breakdancing Preparation Centre for the 2024 Olympics.
